Hiking in the Smokies:
We are within 20 minutes of the Greenbriar entrance to the Smokies, where the Ramsey Cascades trail is - it's an out-and-back 8 mile trail but is very popular and a little on the harder side. We are 25 minutes to the park's main entrance in Gatlinburg, though you could turn off before then and take the Roaring Fork Motor Trail up to the Rainbow Falls Trail - that would be about 23 minutes. That would be a long loop - about 12 miles - or you could do an out-and-back. There are several trails in those two areas. Or you would not be far from many more trails at that point. You can download a PDF of the National Park's trail map Here or go to AllTrails. Getting out early in the mornings beats the traffic and the folks to the trails! The cabin is a fantastic place to rest between hikes and enjoy the sunset on the porch!
